Born Robert Arquette, the actress/performer transitioned into a woman, Alexis, at the age of 23 and began her career as cabaret performer. Arquette went through gender reassignment surgery with a professional plastic surgeon and team of professional doctors and surgeons. Some transgender people also choose a medical transition, with the help of medical specialists, who will prescribe hormones and/or surgery.
